Pom Pom Mobile

Looky, peeps!

It's another baby mobile!

I had a ton of fun making the last one, so I made another in a different style. It gave me an excuse to use these babies:

I got these pom pom makers off Amazon.com and I am just a leeeetle bit obsessed with them ...

PDA = pom pom display of affection
LOOK AWAY
GOSH DARN IT, THEY ARE SO CUTE!

First, I made a gazillion pom poms in different sizes with some scrap yarn.

Then I threaded them randomly onto eight lengths of white crochet thread, making knots to keep them in specific places.

I cut the middle out of a whipped cream container lid and used the remaining plastic circle for the frame.

Then I attached all the strings by poking holes in the plastic with a sharp needle and threading them through. I tied knots to keep them in place.

Knotty, knotty. Har, har, har.

... sorry.

To finish it off, I wrapped the frame in white satin ribbon I had from who-knows-what (no photo; I had to stop to extricate a Hot Wheel from Gracie's mouth ... oh, the joys of having a big brother :). I also added a small plastic ring to the top for hanging purposes.

Voila!

I love how it turned out. For some reason, it reminds me of Dr. Seuss (which is most definitely a good thing!).

It keeps the munchkin entertained, too :-)

P.S. I'll be back tomorrow (hopefully) with the February Crochet Pattern of the Month. Once you make them, you'll have some scrap yarn for pom poms!

POM POMS FTW!
