Melancholia

Sometimes the way you feel just doesn't have a description ... so you make one up.

This is Eeyore.
Melancholia is what Eeyore would be diagnosed with if he ever sought professional help. Of course, they would probably just pump him full of Prozac and VOILA!

This is Eeyore on Prozac.
But that's not always an option. So what do I do when I feel dissatisfied with my life, my marriage, my level of creativity, the fact that I have stumpy little toes, the apparent lack of success that seems to haunt me in every area of life?

I sing this song:

I thank God for this day,
For the sun in the sky,

For my mom and my dad,

For my piece of apple pie!

For our home on the ground,

For His love that's all around,
That's why I say thanks every day!

Because a thankful heart is a happy heart!

I'm glad for what I have,
Thats an easy way to start!

For the love that He shares,

'Cause He listens to my prayers,
That's why I say thanks every day!

For those of you who don't know (and if you don't, allow me to inform you Veggie Tales is the greatest thing since Swiss cheese), this is from Madame Blueberry.

I am going to sing this little song until the rain cloud over my head dissipates ... or somebody gets me that hoover dam Prozac.

STAT!

Today is CUOATSYDDLWBYWSOYBFLYWGTD Day!

No, T Dubbs did not sneak in and add some genius baby language to this post.

that's me. green faced from nausea and disgusted
by the gigantic pile of dishes in the sink.
CUOATSYDDLWBYWSOYBFLYWGTD stands for "Catch Up on All the Stuff You Didn't Do Last Week Because You Were Sitting on Your Butt Feeling Like You Were Going to Die". And today, my friends, is that day.

I hate feeling sick. It starts a chain reaction of doom. I feel sick, so I sit on my butt, which means none of the housework gets done, which means the house turns into a pig stye and I sob uncontrollably because there are no clean forks.

True story.

I am feeling a wee bit better at the moment and I made a Catch Up to-do list. And if you say "Catch Up to-do list" really fast, it sounds like "Ketchup to-do list". I have no idea what that would entail. Eating many types of gourmet ketchup? Is there such a thing as gourmet ketchup?

ANYWAY, I am determined to get all this stuff done. You know, so I can sit on my butt the rest of this week and start the vicious cycle all over again ...

Let's DO THIS thang.

Stop SOPA/PIPA!

Hey peeps,

Just dropping in today to post a link to a petition against SOPA/PIPA. In case you haven't already heard, these bills are supposed to address piracy, but they are written in a way that would give the entertainment industry and the government power to black out any web addresses that "engage in, enable or facilitate" copyright infringement. Who determines exactly what that means? They do.

I'm all for cracking down on jerks who steal other people's ideas, but I do not think this is a good way to do it. The main problem is that these bills are worded so vaguely it is almost impossible to fathom the repercussions. They put too much power in the hands of multi-millionaires and politicians. Plus, they can't stop motivated criminals because IP addresses could still be used to get to blocked sites that distribute pirated content. Basically, all SOPA/PIPA will do is create a massive headache for Internet users around the world, hamper free speech, and make us all want to punch the idiots in Congress even more.

This particular Congress has been less-than-stellar ... kinda like something on the bottom of your shoe that you just want to scrape off. I am NOT willing to leave this in their hands. And if signing petitions and posting about it on my bloggy is all I can do, I'm gonna do it until the zombie apocalypse happens ... or I get blocked.

Here's the link to the petition: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Do something!

And in case SOPA/PIPA gets passed and I piss off the wrong person, here's my IP address: 173.194.70.132
Write it down somewhere!

Dabbling

my philosophy ... unfortunately
For those of you who don't already know, I love to take pictures. It doesn't mean I'm good at it, but it is SO MUCH FUN. I like photography so much, in fact, I bought a very nice camera. And I have no clue how to use it. I kinda just push buttons and tweak stuff and hope it turns out okay.

Stop looking at me like that. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to read the flippin' manual. So maybe in December 2012, I'll crack it open ...

Just to be clear, I'm not into stiff, airbrushed, photoshopped-up-the-you-know-what, silver umbrella thingys, perma-smile type pictures. If I like my photos, that's all that matters. In other words, screw you, rule of thirds.

And despite the fact that this blog already has more going on than Lady Gaga's NYE outfit (DID YOU SEE THAT THING!?!), I feel the need to share. Soooo, I will be gifting to you, my dear readers, a few posts dedicated to some (okay, all) of the photo shoots I've done as well as some random pics I took on the fly.

I might even post pics on specific days of the week.

Ha, ha. That was my organized alter-ego talking. We don't hear from  her much.

The models in these photos are all helpless victims family members and/or things that were unable to run away (trees, rocks, quadriplegic dogs ... KIDDING).

And for those of you who haven't forgotten, another one of my resolutions is to finish the 30 day photo challenge ...

So that means I have 361 days for a 30 day challenge. Now that I can do.

Probably.

And she's at it again ...

I must admit I have a slight addiction to changing my hair color ALL THE TIME. I didn't realize it until Chance's grandmother (such a sweet lady), mentioned that every time I see her (which is not all that often in the grand scheme of things, but still pretty often) my hair is a different color or a different style. And I was like, "nah." And then I thought about it.

Oh.

I never thought I would be one of those hair chameleons. It just kind of happened. I have been red, strawberry blonde (those are different, you know), platinum, purple, pink when the purple faded, and finally my natural (and current) color of a weirdish sort of brown. I really enjoyed rocking the blonde and even the purple, but brown's nice, too.

Right?

I mean, it was my favorite color in elementary school. It's the second most common hair color after black. And it's the color of, uh, dirt and um, mud and ...

CHOCOLATE! It's the color of CHOCOLATE!

Which makes it totally sweet.

How punny, my dear Watson, how very punny indeed.

eh, still not convinced ... what other hues have I yet to try?

I know, I know.

My hair is gonna fall right outta my noggin.

Is there Intervention for hair color addicts?

THE LAST MELON {accountability update}

funny gifsI figured a good way to start the new year out would be to officially record my weight loss progress. I am happy to report I am done losing weight unless the last four pounds just happens to fall off.

You know, like if I accidentally slice off an arm or something.

One month after having Baby Munchkin, I was:

156 pounds
arms: 12 inches
waist: 32.75 inches

And now I am:

124 pounds
arms: 10.5 inches
waist: 26.5 inches
funny gifships: 36.5 inches
thighs: 18.5 inches
