Pinterest Cookie FAIL

Good day, peeps!

Today I am sharing the results of my project for Young House Love's Summer Pinterest Challenge!

I have to say nothing turned out like I thought it would, but I'm "reeping it real". Right, Scooby?

RRright!
Plus, I can blame it all on being 31 weeks pregnant.

You see, pregnancy brain plus baking leads to less than stellar results. It still comes out tasty (and I would know since I EAT IT ALL), but it often looks like an elementary school science project.

Exhibit A: These sugar cookies.

Here's the inspiration picture (from Pinterest):

And .... drum roll, please ....

The results:

yeesh
Totally nailed it.

Go me.

I really have no business putting this epic fail up there with all that Pinterest Challenge eye candy, but hopefully it will help us (or at least me) remember sometimes your domestic goddess alter ego deserts you without warning.

Or in my case, "desserts" you. :-P

It's okay!

  1. Looks like you frosted them when they were still warm.

    Still looks yummy though :)

    1. I let them cool overnight, but it has been HOT here, so maybe the room temp prevented the frosting from setting up? More likely I forgot something, though :)

  2. Hilarious! You're awesome for sharing a 'fail'. Icing ain't easy to master but good on ya' for giving it a shot! (I came over from the pinterest challenge!)

  3. I think they actually most resemble every frosted sugar cookie I've ever tried to make. Getting the icing thin enough to be shiny but thick enough to dry without running off the cookie is a fine art that I have not mastered. But no matter, they still taste great. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

    1. Yay! You make me feel like less of a failure :) I'm sure I'll discover the secret someday. Or not. As long as they're tasty, right?

  4. Caiti,

Eh, it happens to the best of us right? Besides, my family loves my fails, because they know they can eat it all, instead of what I deem unworthy and leave behind. And on more than once occasion my husband has picked up a cookie and announced it didn't look up to par and quickly pop it in his mouth before I could protest.

I followed you over from the Pinterest linky party. I would love if you stopped by my blog.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Laura
