Stop SOPA/PIPA!

Hey peeps,

Just dropping in today to post a link to a petition against SOPA/PIPA. In case you haven't already heard, these bills are supposed to address piracy, but they are written in a way that would give the entertainment industry and the government power to black out any web addresses that "engage in, enable or facilitate" copyright infringement. Who determines exactly what that means? They do.

I'm all for cracking down on jerks who steal other people's ideas, but I do not think this is a good way to do it. The main problem is that these bills are worded so vaguely it is almost impossible to fathom the repercussions. They put too much power in the hands of multi-millionaires and politicians. Plus, they can't stop motivated criminals because IP addresses could still be used to get to blocked sites that distribute pirated content. Basically, all SOPA/PIPA will do is create a massive headache for Internet users around the world, hamper free speech, and make us all want to punch the idiots in Congress even more.

This particular Congress has been less-than-stellar ... kinda like something on the bottom of your shoe that you just want to scrape off. I am NOT willing to leave this in their hands. And if signing petitions and posting about it on my bloggy is all I can do, I'm gonna do it until the zombie apocalypse happens ... or I get blocked.

Here's the link to the petition: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Do something!

And in case SOPA/PIPA gets passed and I piss off the wrong person, here's my IP address: 173.194.70.132
Write it down somewhere!
